In a grim reminder of the ongoing security challenges in northeastern Nigeria, Islamist militants launched a coordinated attack on two military bases in Borno State, resulting in the deaths of at least 14 Nigerian soldiers. The assault, which took place in the early hours of the morning, underscores the persistent threat posed by insurgent groups in the region. According to military sources, the militants struck simultaneously, using small arms, explosives, and improvised tactics designed to overwhelm the soldiers stationed at the bases.
