NEW EBOLA OUTBREAK DECLARED IN KASAI PROVINCE, DRC Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have confirmed a new outbreak of Ebola virus disease in Kasai Province, raising fresh concerns across Central Africa. The Ministry of Health announced that as of September 4, 2025, 28 suspected cases have been identified, with 15 deaths, including among healthcare workers. The outbreak has been traced to Bulape and Mweka health zones, where clusters of infections have been reported. In response, the World Health Organization (WHO) has deployed rapid response teams and dispatched approximately two tonnes of medical and laboratory supplies to aid in containment efforts. According to officials, priorities now include strengthening disease surveillance, enhancing infection prevention and control measures, and improving case management.
