August 25, 2025 – In a significant move of international support, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced a $2 billion military aid package for Ukraine during a surprise visit to Kyiv on the country’s Independence Day.

The aid package includes drones, armored vehicles, and other essential military equipment designed to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities amid ongoing regional tensions. In addition, Canada is providing $31 million in humanitarian and reconstruction assistance, focusing on infrastructure recovery, digital resilience, and civilian support programs.
