INDONESIA FLASH FLOODS LEAVE 15 DEAD AND DOZENS MISSING

Indonesia is reeling from catastrophic flash floods and landslides that struck on September 10–11, 2025, devastating Bali and East Nusa Tenggara. The disaster has left at least 15 people confirmed dead, with 10 others still missing, while hundreds of families have been displaced from their homes.

Triggered by days of unusually heavy rainfall, rivers burst their banks, sweeping away houses, bridges, and farmland. Villages in low-lying and hilly regions were worst hit, as floodwaters and landslides engulfed entire communities. Survivors describe the scene as terrifying, with homes collapsing and people struggling to reach safety in the middle of the night.

As of today, September 12, 2025, rescue operations are still ongoing. Emergency teams, supported by soldiers and volunteers, are searching through debris to recover victims and save survivors. Helicopters are airlifting supplies to cut-off communities, while makeshift shelters have been established to house displaced families. However, access to several affected areas remains difficult due to collapsed roads and bridges.
The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency has warned of continued heavy rains in the coming days, raising concerns about further flooding and landslides. Aid agencies are calling for urgent support as survivors face shortages of clean water, food, and medical supplies.

President Prabowo Subianto has pledged full government backing for relief and rebuilding efforts, expressing condolences to affected families. Meanwhile, experts stress the urgent need for climate resilience measures and stronger infrastructure to help vulnerable communities withstand extreme weather events that are becoming increasingly frequent.

The tragedy is not just a reminder of the destructive force of nature but also a call to action for better disaster preparedness and environmental protection.

TRUMP DEPLOYS NATIONAL GUARD TO CHICAGO AMID RISING UNREST In a move that has sparked widespread debate across the United States, President Donald Trump has authorized the deployment of 300 National Guard troops to Chicago. The decision, according to the White House, comes in response to a series of violent protests, vandalism, and reported lawlessness that have gripped parts of the city in recent weeks. Administration officials say the deployment is aimed at restoring peace and protecting federal buildings, businesses, and citizens, but critics argue it marks another instance of federal overreach and political showmanship. The announcement was made late Saturday following a high-level security briefing at the White House. In his statement, Trump emphasized that the federal government “would not sit idly by while chaos and violence undermine public safety.” The president pointed to reports of shootings, looting, and clashes between demonstrators and police as justification ...
